In 2006 Forbidden Gardens introduced our children's summer program, Asian Adventure Day, and for the past 3 years have enjoyed the children's visits to our museum.

We kick off each day with a guided tour of our museum, which is specifically tailored to the age level of the children. After viewing our 20 minute informational video, an experienced tour guide leads the children through our exhibits informing them of the history of Imperial China. After the guided tour the children have lunch and during this, if they choose, will be able to visit our gift shop. Afterwards we begin the activity that was chosen for the group, which is either to paint a Chinese Opera Mask or a Paper Lantern. We give a little bit of history behind the activity chosen and while the children paint we play a video of Chinese Acrobats from a competition held annually in Beijing, China. If there is time after the activity we offer a game of Chinese Bingo to let the activity dry.

We would like to thank all the school, day cares, and groups who have made our Asian Adventure Days a success the past 3 years. We look forward to the future as we begin to think of new activity ideas for the children to do.
